One interesting side note, when I was going down this path I asked Chakib what kind of VM he was using to test this. His reply was, “I am not using this in a VM, I have a physical Linux box with 200GB of RAM”. So I clearly had some work to do. But in its current state it uses 8 vCPU and “ONLY” 48GB of RAM. Which is still pretty darn big, but a lot better than it was when we started.

The vSpecialists are looking to release a VMAX Virtual Storage Appliance. I wasn't convinced until they managed to slim the whole thing down to 48GB of RAM and 8 vCPUs.
If you are convinced, stop by the EMC Booth at VMworld and look at it or fill out the questionnaire over at storageboy.com. Otherwise I promise you the next time someone asks me about this I'll tell you that we have "Top Men" working on it as it's crated up, marked Secret and stored in a warehouse never to be seen again.
