Ready. Set. Innovate!

Last night I got an email from EMC CTO Jeff Nick's auto mailer inviting me to the EMC Innovation Conference in October. This was unexpected since it's an invite only affair with an incredibly limited number of places but the criteria for entry is very easy to explain.

You have to have an idea. A good idea.

If at the conference it's found to be better than the other ideas submitted it'll be funded and acted on.

This gets me all interested as it's a whole new set of ideas to get behind and I'm a big fan of invention and tinkering. I plan on showing up with an open mind and we'll see if that'll lead to insightful questions for our inventors.

And who decides what "better" is? Some of the smartest people in the company. The judging panel alone could probably take us to Mars and back safely. 

I've found with these things you should never assume because you've been asked once you'll be asked again, look at the number of disgruntled Foo Campers out there, so I plan on soaking in as much as I can as fast as I can.

And it's a great opportunity to meet the people who created the past, are creating the present and will create the future of the company.

There's a very good chance that the next Billion Dollar idea is going to be at that event somewhere. :)
