A decade at the monolith
I was performing the usual paperwork drudgery earlier today befitting a large corporation when I noticed that I'd been serving the monolith for over a decade. My ten year anniversary just sailed on by a few weeks ago.

Stephen Foskett asks where's EMC in light of the Storage Foundation/XenSource hookup announced earlier this week. I find the question interesting as my response is where's the Storage Foundation/VMware hookup? The second EMC bought VMware it threw up walls & guard towers, planted land mines, and rolled out the razor wire to keep EMC people out.
VMware will do what it chooses to do, it'll partner with who it chooses to partner with, that's the way it's been pre-spin out and that's how it'll be post-spin out when it's a stand alone entity. To your typical EMC employee VMware might as well be on Neptune, I'd imagine VMware employees have the same impression of EMC.
Even if it was the company which turned their good idea into a great business.
(The mountain of money they made EMC does make it all worthwhile though. I'm hoping Joe will break and buy something new with all that IPO cash though the chance of that happening hover at zero.)
